Sunset View Creamery is a Farmstead Artisan Cheese Production facility in the Finger Lakes of NY. What does that mean–Farmstead means that we use only milk from our own cows to make our cheese and Artisan means we are “small batch” producers. Typically we product between 200-230 lbs. of Cheese each time we make–currently we make cheese twice a week. This will change as our stock gets built up for the next “busy seasons” in 2017!
We are located on a Family farm that has been in our family since 1905. The 4th and 5th generations of Hoffman’s are working the farm and the production facility. We milk approximately 50-60 cows and raise all of our own replacements. Our calves are raised in hutches (individually) until they are 8-10 weeks old, then moved to group housing.
We welcome visitors to the farm and creamery. Our hours flex with the seasons–we are open Saturdays and Sundays from approx.. April 1-Memorial Day. On Memorial Day we open for 7 days a week until Labor Day when we again go to Saturday and Sunday until Dec. 23, when we close for Jan., Feb., and March. (2017 may have a later opening as we are moving to a larger store front–still on the farm–and want to have everything ready when we open in the Spring.
